The image captures the Lake of The Clouds AMC hut resting on a ridge near the alpine lake, dubbed, Lake of The Clouds.
This ridge connects Mt. Washington and Mt. Monroe. Mt. Washington and The White Mountains are notorious for their wild and erratic weather.
From the slopes of Mt. Jefferson, Mt Madison looms high in the misty New Hampshire sky. The Presidential Traverse hike begins on the airline trail near Randolph New Hampshire and ascends to the AMC Madison hut that provides relief to tired hikers in the warmer months.
